First Lady Erica Lira Castro

Erica Lira Castro was born and raised in San Antonio and is a proud product of San Antonio's public school system. She was raised by a single mother who instilled in her that if you want to get things done you can't depend on anyone but yourself.

After receiving a bachelor degree in English from the University of Texas at San Antonio she continued on and received her Masters degree in Educational Leadership from UTSA. Mrs. Castro taught Mathematics to Third through Fourth grade students for seven years in the Harlandale Independent School District and is currently an Elementary Math Specialist with Northside Independent School District.

Erica and Julian Castro are proud parents of 19 month old Carina Victoria Castro.
