Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies
University of South Florida

Dr. Grosland is an Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at the University of South Florida. A proud first generation college graduate, she lived in Tampa for most of her childhood and after earning an A.A. at Hillsborough Community College, went on to obtain her B.A., M.Ed., and Ph.D. at the University of Minnesota. Prior to becoming an Assistant Professor, she was a a Minnesota public school teacher and a political scientist for Members of Congress on Capitol Hill. As an educator she helped create human rights curriculum for the Minnesota Department of Human Rights and the University of Minnesota (This is My Home). She has been awarded fellowships to study education in both Japan and Germany. During these fellowships she learned what schools were like for teachers and students working in large metropolitan areas (Tokyo, Japan; Hamburg and Berlin, Germany).

While a teacher, Tanetha was very active in helping her students as well as other teachers learn more about human rights. Because of this, went on to become an Integration Equity Coach helping teachers throughout Minnesota on issues of racial equity, integration, culture, and gender equity. She is an Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) administrator, Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity facilitator (SEED), and a Respecting Ethnicity and Cultural Heritage trainer (REACH). She is passionate about promoting women's stories as a way to improve communities, human rights, and ultimately the globe. Dr. Grosland is a huge proponent of activism and community engagement for women from all backgrounds (e.g. generations, nationality, race, language, cis, trans). Her research is on the psychological and emotional aspects of leadership and policy. Her recent book is on women's narratives in education (Feminism and Intersectionality in Academia: Women's Narratives and Experiences in Higher Education, 2018, Palgrave Publishing). She is a foodie who also enjoys travel, watching films, cooking, and reading books.
